A storm sewer improvement project on Poliska Lane will affect access to Linear Trail and Wildcat Creek Linear Park, as well as use of neighborhood streets in the area. Starting this week, Poliska Lane and Justin Drive will be closed at times while new storm sewer is installed in the area. Residents will always be able to have access out of the area by either Poliska Lane or Wilmar Drive. Access to Linear Trail and Wildcat Creek Linear Park from Poliska will be closed, and portions of the trail will be closed during the project. Signs will be posted as trail closures occur.
The project will be constructed in four phases with the following traffic impacts:
Phase I: full closure of Poliska Lane for installation of storm sewer
Phase II: Closure of southbound lane of Poliska Lane at the Justin Drive intersection
Phase III: Closure of the northeast corner of Poliska Lane and Justin Drive intersection
Phase IV: Closure of Poliska Lane for pavement replacement from Justin Drive south
Please obey all posted signs and use caution in the area. The project is expected to be complete by mid-May.
Storm sewer improvements are planned to address a significant flooding issue that occurred in May 2016 in the Poliska Lane and Justin Drive area. Approximately 55 acres including a mix of residential properties and the majority of the Sunset Zoo property drains to this area. J&K Contracting is the contractor on the project.
The City Commission awarded a contract of $196,697.60 to be paid from the Stormwater Fund.
