  4. Adventure Camp, The Pony Express

    February 11, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM @ Flint Hills Discovery Center

    Students will discover how much sending letters cost and create a flyer for the Pony Express. Adventure Camp is limited to 24 students, grades 3-6. Please call 785.587.2726 for more information. Adventure Camp is a unique program offered at both the Flint Hills Discovery Center and Sunset Zoo throughout the school year. The age of the child attending determines the camp location when offered at both sites. Children may be dropped off as early as 7:30 a.m. each session in which they are enrolled. Pick up for half-day registration is between 12:00 p.m. and 12:15 p.m., and pick up for full-day registration is between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Day registrants must bring their own sack lunch. Registration opens Monday, January 4, 2016.

  7. Preschoolers in the Flint Hills, Construction Day

    Preschoolers will discover what it takes to build, using several objects including pool noodles and grapes! Preschool age children begin discovering the wonder of the Flint Hills where they live, but look beyond the city limits in their exploration. Children further their sense of place and belonging to this region through interactions with the ecology and the history of place. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join their preschooler for all the fun at no additional cost. Pre-registration is required.   11. Glassmaking for Kids!

    February 27, 10:30 AM - 3:30 PM @ Flint Hills Discovery Center

    Kids will learn the basics of fused glass by creating a small hanging masterpiece. The glass being used is safe for young artists and has no rough edges. All materials will be provided. No previous experience necessary. Due to firing times, student work will not be available for pickup until 48 hours have passed.
