    Pick up your coloring sheet from City Hall and get creative for Park and Rec Month. Sheets are due back to City Hall by July 25 to be entered for a prize. Winners of a superhero prize package will be announced at Parks and Rec Day in the Park on July 31.

    Signup for the home run derby as part of Park and Rec Month begins at 6 p.m. at CiCo Red in CiCo Park, Wreath and Kimball. The derby begins at 6:30 p.m. and is for ages 10 to 16 to be divided into divisions.

  6. Furniture Amnesty Day

    July 29, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Furniture Amnesty Day is an annual event to allow residents to get rid of unwanted furniture and allow others to pick up free furniture for their home. We will have collection routes. To schedule furniture pickup, please fill out our online form at or call 785-587-2404. You must live inside Manhattan city limits. Deadline to sign up for this service is 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. You can drop off your donation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Baker Field parking lot in City Park on the day of the event. Public sign-in to select from the donated furniture begins at 8 a.m. Time slots from noon to 5 p.m. will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any furniture left after 5 p.m. is open to the general public. Find a list of acceptable furniture and more information at
