The Manhattan Fire Department Honor Guard is made up of 12 firefighters.
The Honor Guard was established in 2009. This group of individuals is
dedicated and committed to continue the traditions of the fire service
regarding honor, loyalty, courage and compassion. This group of
individuals is highly motivated and maintains exceptionally high
standards of appearance and conduct.
The primary role of the
Honor Guard is to provide special services for injured and fallen
comrades. Other functions of the Honor Guard may include serving as the
“guardians of the colors” by displaying and escorting the national flag
on ceremonial occasions.
The Honor Guard has made several
appearances in parades, K-State sporting events, ceremonial services,
and the IAFF Fallen Firefighter Memorial.
