Furniture Amnesty Day is an annual event that allows local residents to donate furniture they no longer need so others can select from the donated goods for free. The next event will take place on Friday, July 27, 2018 (the last Friday in July) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Event Flyer (PDF)
Volunteers will pick up furniture donations within Manhattan City limits. Please fill out the online form here or call us at (785) 587-2204 to request pick up. The deadline to sign up for this service is 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 25.
You may also drop off your donations between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. in City Park on the day of the event (July 27).
Sign Up to Pick Out New-to-You Furniture
Sign up will begin at 8:00 a.m. at City Park. Time slots from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. After 4:00 p.m., and items left are available to the general public. No paperwork is needed to pick out new furniture at the event.
Volunteers can help load furniture into vehicles but participants will need to arrange their own method of transport.
Unacceptable furniture and appliances
This program is intended to provide a free way for you to dispose of unwanted furniture. If you leave it on the curb, it could be considered a nuisance by our Code Services department. Local trash companies generally will not pick up furniture on their regular routes.
