Mayor Mark Hatesohl
Elected Position
Dr. Mark Hatesohl was first elected to the Manhattan City Commission in 2003 and re-elected in 2019. He served as mayor in 2008-2009 and is serving as Mayor again in calendar year 2023.
Biography
Dr. Mark Hatesohl moved to Manhattan in 1984 to start his Chiropractic practice. Growing up in Linn, KS, a trip to Manhattan was a special occasion and Mark jumped at the chance to start his career here. As a previous commissioner and mayor (2003-2009) he helped guide the downtown redevelopment project and was serving as mayor in 2008 when it was announced that the NBAF facility would be located here.
He has been in leadership at his church (St. Luke’s Lutheran) for over 25 years and headed up their recent church building project. He recently stepped down as President of the Cloud County Community College Foundation board of directors, where he has been a board member for 20 years, helping it grow 10X over that time. He is a founding member, and past president, of The Guardians, a 501(c)3 organization of men helping men in their time of need. He started his volunteer career on the UFM Board and served on the Social Service Advisory Board in the late 1990s.
Gov. Mike Hayden appointed him to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in 1990. At 29 years of age, he was the youngest person ever to serve on the board that licenses doctors & health care providers in Kansas. He has been a member of the Kansas Chiropractic Association since 1983 and has served on the Board of Directors on the state level and continues to be an officer at the district level.
Mark is married to Pamela, a food safety scientist, and has two grown daughters, both graduates of KSU. He enjoys riding his Harley, traveling, and golfing in charity events.
