Riley County Solid Waste Management Committee

Meets on an as needed basis to consider solid waste management and planning issues in Riley County.  The issues include but are not limited to: waste reduction, reuse, recycling, yard waste/composting, household hazardous waste, waste collection, transfer station and landfilling.   Required by KSA 65-3405.  Shall not exceed 30 members.  No term limits.  Five (5) representatives from the City of Manhattan - must be nominated by respective Mayor; one (1) representative from Leonardville, Ogden, Randolph and Riley; one (1) represenative from unincorporated area of County; and a Recycling Coordinator.  SWMC must review Plan annually and conduct hearing every five (5) years.
No elections are held. Members can hold office as long as they want.
