Peter Oppelt was elected to the Manhattan City Commission in November 2024 for a two-year term beginning January 2024.
As a devoted husband and father of a second-grade son, Peter is deeply invested in the future of our community and committed to making a positive impact.
He grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado and served nine years in the U.S. Army. His service included tours overseas in Iraq, Haiti, and Korea. The final three years of his military career, he served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Leader on Ft. Riley.
Since 2012, he has proudly called Manhattan, Kansas, home. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Economics in 2018.
Peter is actively involved in various community organizations, including serving as the Engage Pillar chair for Manhattan Hype and Vice President of the PTO at Marlatt Elementary.
