The city has established an educational assistance program to help eligible employees develop their skills and upgrade their performance. All full-time employees who have completed at least six (6) months of satisfactory service with the city are eligible to participate in the program. Educational assistance is provided for those courses of study, both correspondence and classroom, which in the City’s opinion are directly or reasonably related to the employee’s present job or part of a job related degree program. Reimbursement covers the actual cost of tuition only and is limited to a maximum of 6 hours per session, with a maximum of 18 credit hours annually. The total amount of reimbursement is based on the grade received: A/B 100%, reimbursed; C or Pass, 50% reimbursed; lower than a C, 0%. Reimbursement is of tuition only; books, campus fees, etc. are not covered.
