During Safari Edventure Day, your class will engage in a variety of age-appropriate activities that include storytelling, hands-on science experiments, live animal encounters and conservation projects. Every class participates in six, 20-minute workshops assigned on a specific, easy-to-follow route throughout the Zoo. Every class will also enjoy scheduled time to tour the Zoo at their leisure.

Join Sunset Zoo's education department and AZA-accredited Zoos statewide for hands-on workshops throughout the Zoo focused on science and culture. For youth in grades K-6; contact Sunset Zoo's Education Department for more information.
How the Day Works
- Classes are assigned a schedule of workshops
- Classes receive an identifying animal to help in keeping everyone together and SAFE!
- A zoo-full of trained volunteers
- Enthusiastic workshop presenters
Have You Been Before?
Not a problem! Each year Sunset Zoo recruits presenters that bring something unique to the event, and encourage those returning presenters to update and change their station from last year.
What is the Cost to Participate?
Very little! Below is a breakdown of the cost to your group attending Safari Edventure Day:
- USD 383 & Manhattan Schools:
Admission is FREE. $15 program fee per class.
- Schools Outside Manhattan:
$1 per person admission & $15 program fee per class
Registration is limited. Registration form is available this fall. Contact the Zoo's Curator of Education, Jared Bixby, by email or calling 785.587.2737 to have him notify you when registration is open.
