Science is Fun!

Go Behind the Science at this family-friendly event featuring Zoo staff and local scientists.
We love science at Sunset Zoo! From our animal residents to the natural settings we all inhabit, science surrounds us and we think it's pretty cool. Plus, in our own backyard, local researchers are uncovering exciting discoveries through the power of science.
What are Science Saturdays?
Science Saturdays offer families and guests of all ages fun, hands-on activities to discover this fascinating world. Featuring our Science Communication Fellows, this come-and-go event will share their research in a fun and new way.
Each Science Saturday features different demonstrations and workshops for attendees, so you will learn something new each time you attend. The event is held indoors in the Zoo's entry and education facility, the Nature Exploration Center. Science Saturdays will be held rain or shine and attendees must pay Zoo admission. The Zoo is open from Noon to 5pm; Science Saturday attendees are invited to enjoy the animal collection before or after the event.
Love Science? Check out our Science on Tap program
Held at Manhattan's Tallgrass Tap House on the third Wednesday of the month August through April, Science on Tap features a brief, informal presentation by a local scientist followed by lively conservation. We promise a fun setting and engaging conversations!
Science Saturdays are offered as part of Sunset Zoo's Behind the Science initiative; an effort to build our community's enthusiasm for science in a fun and unique way.
