The City of Manhattan has been awarded a $150,000 grant from the HOME Investment Partnerships Program through the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation to assist low and moderate income Manhattan homeowners in repairing their homes. Low and moderate income homeowners within the City limits of Manhattan are eligible to apply for funds through the program.

In order to be considered low income, homeowners must meet the following income requirements.

Persons in the Household - 1, Total Annual Gross Household Income/Assets - $33,500
Persons in the Household - 2, Total Annual Gross Household Income/Assets - $38,300Persons in the Household - 3, Total Annual Gross Household Income/Assets - $43,100
Persons in the Household - 4, Total Annual Gross Household Income/Assets - $47,850

Repairs will include activities that meet HUD Housing Quality Standards and local codes. They include electrical, plumbing, painting, heating, structural repair, windows, doors, insulation, lead-based paint controls, drainage, and accessibility improvements. Completed applications will be accepted beginning at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2012, at City Hall, 1101 Poyntz Avenue. Mailed applications must be postmarked on or after February 23, 2012.

Applications will be available at various locations, including: City Hall, 1101 Poyntz Avenue; Manhattan Public Library, 629 Poyntz Avenue; and on the City’s web site at www.cityofmhk.com/homeapplication.
