(MANHATTAN, KS – 6:30 a.m. May 8, 2018) A flood warning was issued for Wildcat Creek this morning at 5:07 a.m. Water is expected to crest at 21’ at Scenic Drive today, which indicates moderate flood conditions. As of 6:00 a.m. the gauge at Keats was at 20.47’ and the gauge at Scenic Drive was at 14.75’.
Residents in the Keats area who were flooded in 2018 have been evacuated. Residents of Highland Ridge Apartments have been notified to move vehicles and be prepared to evacuate if necessary. Residents of the Hunter’s Island area who were impacted by the 2018 flood should also be prepared. No other evacuations have been issued at this time.
Water has started to affect Wildcat Creek Road west of Scenic Drive and that roadway will likely be closed later this morning. The ATA Bus route to Keats will not run today. The bridge at Scenic Drive is not expected to close.
