School traffic re-routing for road work

map of traffic re-routing for Susan B Anthony Middle School

Wednesday, August 14th is the first day of classes for USD383. Some road projects originally scheduled for completion before the start of school have been delayed due to unusually wet weather, and the continued road work will have an impact on school traffic.

Road work on Kimball Avenue and Juliette will affect Marlatt Elementary, Susan B. Anthony Middle School, and Woodrow Wilson Elementary at the beginning of the semester.

City staff have been working with USD383 to develop alternate bus and traffic routes. USD383 will also provide crossing guards to help children cross Kimball Avenue on the east side of Browning Avenue. The contractor, Ebert Construction, is creating a temporary “hard, all-weather surface” with compacted AB-3 across the south half of Kimball and installing safety fencing. School crossing signs with flags and a 20 mph sign will be in place as well.

Juliette Ave will also be under construction between Poyntz Ave and Osage St during a portion of the Fall 2019 semester. Buses should use the recommended construction bus route as shown. Temporary no-parking zones will be enforced on the east side of North 6th St between Fremont St. and Leavenworth St, and the south side of Fremont St for 30 feet west of North 6th St.
