Repairs to the storm water infrastructure under 3rd Street have been completed and the roadway should reopen by Monday, August 9.
3rd Street was closed last week so City crews could locate and repair voids under the roadway which were suspected to be collapsed storm sewer infrastructure. Upon excavation, crews found a failed joint in one of the storm sewer pipes that was causing the sinkholes. They replaced the bad section of concrete pipe and backfilled the area.
The sanitary sewer department then used cameras to explore the pipes and check for any additional damage. They pumped 1,500 gallons of water and dye through the system and did not find any further indication of collapse.
Concrete has been poured and 3rd Street will reopen to all traffic when the curing process has been completed. Please do not walk, bike, or drive on the wet cement.
