The Aggieville parking lots at 12th and Laramie could look a lot different in the coming years. Last Tuesday, the City Commission accepted the recommendation to move forward with a proposal from Back 9 Development. The team will be working to create a development project for the two City-owned parking lots in that area.
Back 9 Development was selected, but the project has not been finalized yet - we're still in the very early stages. For the next step, City staff will work with the development team to finalize the pre-development agreement.
The pre-development agreement will include a lot of parameters. It will specify obligations that must be met by the developer, such as defining the design, schedule/timeline, and budget; but it will also designate the development team as the exclusive developer for the site. The pre-development agreement will be brought back to the City Commission for consideration before it is executed.
This project is another step toward redeveloping Aggieville into a "vibrant, historic, pedestrian-orientated urban district that offers diverse shopping, dining, entertainment, and residential opportunities to students, visitors and the broader community" as identified in the adopted Aggieville Community Vision plan.

It's a long document - but you can see some design ideas and drawings starting on p. 65.
