The Flint Hills area will be experiencing a significant increase in population and economic activity over the next five years as Fort Riley expands its troop strength and military mission. The region received a Planning Assistance Management Grant from the Office of Economic Adjustment, Department of Defense to examine the impacts of expected growth in a wide range of areas.
The planning team for the Flint Hills Regional Growth Plan will host a series of public meetings to present findings, gather feedback from residents, and identify future actions to prepare local communities for growth. A special focus of the meetings will be on maintaining a high quality of life in the Flint Hills region and providing access to good schools, parks, transportation, jobs, health care and affordable housing as area communities grow.
