The City of Manhattan will continue to coordinate volunteer cleanup efforts on Saturday, June 21. All volunteers wanting to assist with the continuing cleanup from the tornado should report to the west parking lot of Bill Snyder Family Stadium (near Cat's Closet) between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. Volunteers should dress appropriately (long pants and shirts, sunscreen, and work gloves if available) and will be transported to the affected areas.
In addition, all those willing to provide vehicles or equipment that could be used to load and haul debris are asked to check in with City Officials at the Command Center, at the volunteer site at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The contact phone number is 313-9097.
Any property owner or tenant needing assistance from volunteers with vehicles and equipment should call 587-2489 or 587-2404 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to register for assistance.
On June 17, 2008, the City Commission approved one-time waivers of demolition and building permit fees to repair or rebuild structures that were destroyed or sustained major damage from the tornado that impacted the City of Manhattan on June 11, 2008.
