    Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the County Commission Chambers has been temporarily closed to the general public. Live public comment during the meeting is not possible; however, written public comments may be submitted by email to RCPD Executive Assistant Nichole Glessner at nglessner@rileycountypolice.org. Public comments must be submitted by 8:00 am on May 13, 2020, in order to be communicated to the Law Board prior to the meeting for their consideration. Reminder: The Law Board is responsible for the enforcement of law and the providing of police protection and is authorized (in part) to: Appoint and establish the salary and compensation of the Director; Authorize and provide for the appointment of all other personnel; Hear and affirm or revoke the suspension or dismissal of law enforcement officers; Establish salaries for personnel; Authorize the acquisition of equipment and supplies necessary to operate the department; Adopt an annual budget, etc.

  2. CANCELED-Special Alcohol Fund Advisory Committee

    The purpose of the Special Alcohol Funds Advisory Committee is to solicit proposals for the use of the funds in the city's Special Alcohol Fund. The committee evaluates the proposals to ensure conformance to community objectives and helps to secure the coordination of the programs and services dealing with the abuse of alcohol and drugs that may now or in the future be provided by existing or new public, nonprofit and private agencies. Also, the committee evaluates the quality of the programs provided through the assistance of these funds.

  3. CANCELED-Social Services Advisory Board Public Hearings

    The purpose of the Social Services Advisory Board is to establish and recommend a framework, which the City government may use to determine guidelines for providing funds to social services agencies, which serve the City and the amounts to be allocated to each of these agencies. The Social Services Advisory Board evaluates the social service needs of the City, evaluates what role the City should play in funding those needs, establishes guidelines for determining whether or not a particular activity is a social service in order to determine if City funds should be used to fund the activity, makes written reports to the governing body as requested, and provides on-going review of all social services funded by the City to determine the effectiveness, quality of service, ongoing needs and other matters the board deems appropriate.

The Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial board, which, through state statute, is granted the authority to consider and approve, or deny, applications requesting relief from the requirements of the Zoning Regulations involving private property within the City of Manhattan. The board's decisions are made following quasi-judicial procedure, to develop findings of fact, based on evidence presented to it during a public hearing.
