    Comprised of seven community members, the HRSB’s primary purpose is to receive and consider questions or proposals which in and of themselves do not constitute formal complaints of unlawful discrimination but are related issues, and recommend non-discrimination, equal opportunity and civil rights policies, procedures, and programs to the governing body (City Commission). Those recommendations should be intended to protect against discrimination; promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city; and/or create a welcoming, diverse community.

  2. Douglass Center Advisory Board Meeting

    The purpose of the Douglass Center Advisory Board is to make recommendations to the City Commission regarding the operation of the Douglass Community Center. In addition, the board recommends an annual budget for the operation of the Douglass Center, advises the City Commission regarding the scope and content of programs to be initiated at Douglass Center, advises the City Commission regarding staff of the Douglass Center, and submits monthly and annual reports to the City Commission regarding operations of the Douglass Center.

  3. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force

    The Manhattan City Commission approved the formation of the Manhattan Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force to research and recommend best practices in order to create a more inclusive and welcoming community that includes racial, social-economic, and ethnic diversity in the growth of Manhattan. The DEI Task Force will be different from existing City Advisory Boards in that it will only convene for up to one year and will be tasked to make recommendations which will be directed to the community at large.

  4. Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board

    The Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board was created in March 1976, through an interlocal agreement between the Manhattan City Commission and the Riley County Commission, to provide for coordinated planning within a jurisdictional area called the Manhattan Urban Area, which includes the Manhattan city limits and the surrounding urbanizing area
